Reiki is a laying on of hands technique thousands of years old. It is thought to have originated as a Tibetan Buddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. It is not a religion. It is a very simple yet powerful healing technique.
In its long history of use it has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury, including serious problems such as multiple sclerosis, heart disease, cancer, broken bones, insomnia, skin problems, etc.
It is not intended to replace seeing a doctor, nor take the place of prescription medicine. It is meant to assist in a quicker recovery in one's healing.
As Reiki flows through a sick or unhealthy area, it breaks up and washes away the unhealthy energies, so that the body can begin functioning in a balanced, healthy way.
The great value of Reiki is that it knows exactly where to go and how to respond to each person's needs. It can never do harm.
During a Reiki treatment the client often experiences the practitioner's hands as hot, others feel a tingling or coolness, some see colors or images, and there are some who just become totally relaxed. No two people experience Reiki in quite the same way and no two sessions are alike.
Everyone has the ability to channel healing energy. Many or us do it without realizing it: Mothers holding and caressing their children, friends consoling each other, etc. All you have to do is be attuned, learn some hand positions, and let Reiki flow. It's easy.
